THE BEGINNINGS

In 1983, the establishment of Goodrich Wallcoverings Pte Ltd marked the collaborative efforts of Mr. Chan Chong Beng and Mr. Thomas Gay. Starting out as a modest 7-person venture, the company’s initial focus was the provision of wallcoverings to architects, interior designers, and property developers. This operational framework laid the groundwork upon which the business steadily expanded both in influence and scale.

In 2005, Mr. Chan initiated a branding initiative that, combined with his effective leadership and strategic implementation of business policies, resulted in an impressive 93% surge in Goodrich Global’s retail revenue solely within Singapore by 2007. This year also saw Mr. Chan being honoured with the prestigious title of ‘Overall Winner – Entrepreneur of the Year 2007’.

Today, the Goodrich brand has evolved into the preferred choice for lifestyle interior furnishings. The brand’s achievements include:

Receiving the Enterprise 50 Award

Attaining the Singapore Prestige Brand Award

Emerging as the Overall Winner of the SPBA-Citi business Regional Brand category

In 2012, Brand Finance, the world’s foremost independent brand valuation company headquartered in the United Kingdom, appraised the Goodrich brand at a value of S$15.4 million. The company holds the esteemed “Singapore Quality Class” certification and the ISO 9001:2008 certification.

At present, Goodrich Global Pte Ltd holds a position of prominence as the leading brand in the distribution and supply of wallcoverings, fabrics, carpets, and a range of flooring materials including laminate, vinyl, engineered timber, outdoor decking, and rubber tiles for both indoor and outdoor applications. The company’s presence extends across Southeast Asia, India, and the Middle East, with a workforce of over 500 individuals situated in more than 30 regional offices spanning 11 countries. THE PARTNERSHIP

The merger with Sangetsu Corporation is a key milestone for Goodrich Global to strengthen its capability for continuous growth.
Sangetsu Corporation controls about 50% of the Japanese market in wallpaper and has total assets of JPY 163,717 million. In 2016, the company bought a U.S. manufacturer of wall decoration materials, Koroseal. The acquisition solidifies Sangetsu Corporation’s foundation for Asia business and accelerate overseas sales. The Nagoya-based wallcovering leader in Japan since 1849, owns 100% of Goodrich Global. Like Goodrich Global, Sangetsu Corporation is in the interior products industry with nine showrooms and 34 sales offices in Japan. The company develops and sells interior decorating products in Asia and internationally with products offerings such as wallcoverings, flooring materials, curtains, and upholstery. The synergies reaped from Goodrich Global in Asia, Koroseal in North America and Sangetsu Corporation in Japan will expand its sales network in Southeast Asia to improve the corporate value of the entire group.
