Lunar New Year is just around the corner and it only means one thing – it’s time for Spring Cleaning!
Let’s kick off the new year with a fresh looking clean home. Many of our clients who installed wallcoverings/wallpapers in their homes are puzzled how to clean their covered walls. Here are some 8 tips on how to clean your wallcovered walls.

1. First, Identify your wallcovered walls whether it is vinyl covered, paper covered or made from natural materials like silk/ coconut shells or pearls shelled. If it is vinyl or paper surfaced wallcoverings, you could vacuum your walls lighty. If it is silk/coconut shells or pearl shelled, it would be best to consult the sales representatives on the cleaning instructions.

2. Generally for all wallcoverings, one can remove ordinary household dirt and smudges with mild soap and warm water lightly. Avoid scrubbing!

3. Clean with clean water and mild cleanser from the top to down with a sponge. When cleaning is completed, clean the wall again with clean water to remove any residual cleanser.

4. Dry the surface with a soft, lint-free loth or towel with a blotting action rather than rubbing.

5. For a more diffuclt surface stain, use a stronger detergent accoding to the manufaturer’s instructions. When in doubt, please email to info@goodrichglobal.com.

6. Avoid using powdered abrasive cleaners to clean the wall. These may scratch the wallpaper or vinyl wall cover.

7. Do not use active solvent-type cleaning preparations, such as nail polish remover, tar and bug removers as these will remove the protective surface of the wallcovering/wallpapers’ finishes.

8. For water stains from leakage of the aircon and pipes, it will be recommended to replace the wallcoverings/wallpaper. Attempts to clean it may result in patches.
