Natural Wallcoverings II Wallpapers

Product Information

Overview

This wallcovering is made in the Far East by craftsmen from plant fibres which are harvested, hand selected, washed, dried and bleached in the sunshine. They are gathered and tied up in small bundles before being hand woven on ancestral looms. The complete process is done by hand. Depending on the fibres used, a good craftsman weaves approx 75 cm (29.5 inches) per hour. When the weaving is finished, the hand woven fabric is paperbacked for easier hanging. The wallcovering is now ready for dyeing. The cold dye is applied by brush. Finally the quality is checked. These wallcoverings show natural irregularities in texture and variations in colour due to the use of natural fibres and the small-scale production method. These factors contribute to the characteristics and decorative charm of these wallcoverings.
